IJsprinces...Iceprinces...Isprinsessa

Hierbij een berichtje uit mijn ijspaleis Nedri Midbaer in Neskaupstadur. Ik heb het hier reuze naar mijn zin, en wordt behandeld als een princes. Ik heb een taarten en koekjes bak boek gekregen van Ragnhildur. Dus helaas voor jullie...als ik terug ben in Nederland zal ik iedereen weer eens met IJslandse taarten vergiftigen, heh heh. Nee hoor, ze zijn echt heel lekker en leuk om te bakken!

Maar door al die taartjes ben ik wel afgelopen week heel hard gaan fitnessen, dat was even nodig voor mijn spieren! Ik ben naar Einar en Lilja geweest om mijn 10 kilo spullen op te halen, en vond daarin gitaarboeken terug! Dus zit ik soms te plingelen. Verder heb ik zitten breien, schilderen en verder gezocht naar werk. Helaas kon ik op vrijdag 2 maart niet naar Egilsstadir... ik stond namelijk tot aan mijn knietjes/middel in de sneeuw in -6 graden op dat moment. Wow, door dat altijd veranderlijke weer moet het vroeger toch echt lastig zijn geweest...en een stuk kouder! Nu rennen mensen uit hun tot 25 graden verwarmde huizen in hun dunne kleren de verwarmde auto in. Terwijl door de sneeuw lopen erg goed is voor je conditie! De zaterdag erop was het prachtig weer, dus ging ik paardrijden. Het ging al een stuk beter, en in galop gaan was erg leuk! Zondag ging ik skieeen in de Oddskard, tussen de svartur fjallin en de grainur fjallin...de zwarte en de groene berg. Nu helemaal wit natuurlijk, en erg hoog! Tralala..ik begon dus maar even op de barnalift...kinderlift. Dat was al hoog voor mij, en hoe ik op die lift kwam weet ik niet, en hoe naar beneden wil ik niet weten. Er vroeg iemand aan mij: 'Waar kom JIJ vandaan?! Nog nooit op ski's gestaan?' Goed, het was leuk om te ervaren, maar met mijn kleine beetje hoogtevrees zie ik de lol er niet helemaal van in. Ik loop liever, dan zie je meer dan dat je steeds dezelfde bergen afrolt *in mijn geval*. :D

Woensdag ging ik naar Egilsstadir. Ik ben heel wat dingen af geweest, en uiteindelijk heb ik werk gevonden!!! In Hotel Herad van IcelandAirHotels. Het is 100% werk, van 07:00 uur tot en met 15:00 uur of 15:00 uur tot 23:00 uur, met een normaal weekend vrij. Het verdient goed, beter nog dan de visfabriek. En natuurlijk veel leuker werk! Nu zoek ik wel een kamer in Egilsstadir, wat nu even lastig is om te vinden in deze tijd van het jaar. Maar het gaat lukken!

Over 5 minuten ga ik naar Reydarfjordur om te zingen in een basisschool met de Elizabeth, de zangdocente van 3 dorpjes hierzo. Het zijn dus optredens van allemaal jongere kinderen, behalve ik.

Ik ga zingen: Pocahontas- Kleuren van de wind.

Een mooi liedje vind ik...zoals alle Disney-liedjes!

Dear people,

Here is a message from the ice-palace Nedri-Midbaer in Neskaupstadur. I am really having a great time here and I am treated like a princess. I got a baking book for Icelandic cakes and cookies, from Ragnhildur. They are jummiejummiejum! :D

But by eating all of these cakes, I started to do fitness as well. I went to Einar and Lilja, the people I stayed with first. I left some 10 kilo's of stuff behind in their garage, so I came to pick that up as well. I found my guitarbooks back, so I started playing guitar as well. It's great to do that. I've been singing, nitting and reading and looking a lot for a job as well. I couldn't go to Egilsstadir last week because the weather was really bad. The snow came to my knees and it was -6 degrees. I think it must have been really hard to live in these circomstances in the old days. Nowadays the people are running out of their warm *up to 25 degrees* houses into their heated cars in very thin clothes. But the life on Iceland in 900, in the first time of settlement, or even later, in 1800, was a big difference. People used to have one heated room, and used to wear very warm and woolen clothes.
The next saturday I went horse-riding, because it was a beautiful weather. The horse went very fast, and it was great to sit on it. It went much better this time...I am learning more and more! On sunday I went ski- ing in the mountains, on the Oddskard, the name of the pass and the tunnel between Neskaupstadur and Eskifjordur. The mountains are called Green and Black mountain, because of the rock and vegetation. But of course they are white by now!

I never skied before, so it was quite scary for me. I started on the childlift, barnalift in Icelandic. I don't know how I got on the mountain but I don't want to know how I got of! There were some people that asked me: 'Where do YOU come from? Never skied before?" It was a nive experience, but I don't think it's really my thing. I don't see the fun in rolling of the mountains (in my case :D :P). I prefere walking...you can see a lot more when you walk!

I went to Egilsstadir on wednesday to look for work. And I found work, yeey! I am going to work in Hotel Herad from IcelandAirHotels. That's a nice job and it is 100% work, and it pays a lot. It pays better than the fishingfactory and it's much nicer work of course. It will as well increase my Icelandic.

I went to Reydarfjordur today to sing in a concert of the students of Elizabeth. It was in the primary school, and there were a lot of little children singing like angels. I was singing 'Colors of the wind' from Pocahontas. It's a beautiful song I think, like all disney songs.

Thanks for your message Pete! I'm sorry for your exams...I will start to that adventure in september again. I hope your exams went fine! :D I will keep writing those english messages, you're right...it's good to practise a lot! Could you send me your adress again? I am not sure if I've got it...and I've got some summerpictures of Kuterevo for you.
